Well-Read

“My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word…. My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word” (Psalm 119:25, 28). There is nothing like God’s Word. It is simultaneously the lamp that lights our path and the hammer that breaks our stony hearts. It is a sword that lays us bare, surgically exposing our thoughts and hearts (Hebrews 4:12). Yet that same Word binds, heals, and restores (Psalm 107:20). It is divine, authoritative, inerrant, sufficient, and clear. In it God reveals His gospel; by it God gathers the nations; and through it God builds His church. Praise God for His Word (Psalm 119:162)

Too often, though, we fail to hear God’s Word in all its simplicity and all its truthfulness. Or, just as bad, we read but fail to grasp, fail to wonder, fail to trust, fail to obey, fail to worship. Our hope is that these Well-Read segments would remedy that, in part. That in a few minutes—whether in the gym or in the car or at the kitchen table on a Tuesday morning—you would hear the voice of the Lord clearly, beautifully, and in power.

The format is simple—it’s just a brief explanation of a Scripture passage, a reading of that passage, and a brief prayer in light of that passage. We hope this podcast is helpful and encourages you to love and read and know God’s Word better. After all, God gives life according to His Word.
